What is NTSE?

The National Talent Search Examination (NTSE) is a National Level scholarship program in India for talented students. It helps the students to get financial assistance in the form of a monthly scholarship for their academic career. For the selection process, the students of class X can appear for the examination. The selection process includes 2 stages:

For Stage – I, the selection will be done by States or UTC 
For Stage – II the students who clear stage 1 will appear for this and the examination conducted by NCERT.

What is the KVPY?

The “Kishore Vaigyanik Protsahan Yojana” (KVPY) is a program started in 1999 by the Department of Science and Technology (DST), Indian government encourages the students to take basic science and make a research career in science. The main of the program is to encourage and identify the students to pursue this as their career.

Generous fellowship and contingency grants are provided to the selected KVPY Fellows up to the pre Ph.D. level or 5 years. Additionally, educational institutes organize the camps for the KVPY Fellows. To organize the KVPY program the responsibility is taken by the Department of science and technology. 

What about the eligibility criteria?

Stream SA

Students in the XI Standard (opted for Science Subjects) and have a minimum of 80% score (70% for SC, ST, or PWD) marks in aggregate in Mathematics and Science in the board examination of 10th. 

Stream SX

Students enrolled in XII Standard/ (+2) (Science subjects) and interested in undergraduate programs in Basic Sciences which includes subjects like Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics & Biology leading to B.Stat./B.Math./B.Sc./B.S./Int. M.Sc./M.S. provided and they have a minimum of 80% (70% for PWD/SC/ST/) marks in aggregate in MATHEMATICS and SCIENCE subjects (Chemistry/Physics/Biology) in the 10th Standard Examination scoring 60% (50% for SC/ST/PWD) marks in aggregate in SCIENCE subjects (Chemistry/Physics/Biology) in the 12th standard Board Examination.

Stream SB

Students who have opted for the 1st year of the undergraduate program in Basic Sciences which included Chemistry/Physics/Mathematics & Biology leading to B.Sc./B.Math./B.S./B.Stat./Int. M.Sc./M.S. and having secured a minimum of 60% (50% for ST/SC/PWD) marks in aggregate in SCIENCE subjects 

What is the selection procedure?

Aptitude Test

Once the application forms are checked by taking out the forms of the students who meet the eligibility criteria. All of them need to go through a written aptitude test which needs to be given in English and Hindi which is conducted at the centers in different cities.
